Friends of Horizons Guild was created in 2003 to provide volunteer and financial support to Horizons. With over 100 members, the Guild is active in fundraising, staff support, and volunteering for Horizons. The major fund raiser for the Guild has been “Putting Fore Horizons,” a fun and exciting event held every other spring. This unique event has raised over $100,000 since 2006. If you want to be part of this exciting group whose purpose is to support Horizons, contact Sabrina Slade, Director of Development and Communications, 336-767-2411.

2011 Putting Fore Horizons was a HUGE Success!!

Over 150 people saddled up for this year’s Putting Fore Horizons fundraiser  held at the Old Salem Visitors Center on Friday, April 8.  This year’s theme was the Wild Wild West - Shoot Out on the Horizon and included nine holes of indoor putting, each cleverly decorated to theme, a live auction, entertainment, cookout style fare, festive beverages, and loads of fun.  A group of dedicated volunteers, the Friends of Horizons Guild, organizes this fundraiser every other year to financially support Horizons.  The funds raised go directly toward meeting current needs such as wheelchairs, specialized bathing tubs, hydraulic lifts, specially fitted transportation vehicles and furniture.

Co-Chairs of this year’s event, Anna Ball Hodge and Kay D. Burress King, did an outstanding job coordinating the event and securing sponsors.  This year’s event raised $32,000.  Major sponsors included: Reyonlds American, Wells Fargo, GMAC Insurance, Alegria, and an anonymous donor.   A special thank you goes out to the entire Friends of Guild team for making this year’s Putting Fore Horizons an event that will always be remembered.
