SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

WHAT IS SPONSORSHIP?

It is an opportunity for an individual or group to make a difference in the life of one or more of our residents. By sponsoring a resident, you can share in the care and services they receive, providing needed emotional and financial support for a resident who has many needs. It allows you to share in their laughter and their smile, as well as their struggles and accomplishments. You can become part of the team that helps each resident achieve important goals in their life.

THE RESIDENTS OF HORIZONS ARE DIAGNOSED AS:

  • having severe or profound mental retardation
  • having multiple developmental disabilities
  • being medically fragile (having one or more health condition which put them at risk)

THROUGH SPONSORSHIP, YOU CAN:

  • Help a resident celebrate important events such as their birthday, Christmas, and other special occasions such as Halloween or Valentine’s Day.
  • Assist in providing clothing for residents who, like all children, outgrow their clothing on a regular basis.
  • Provide personal needs, such as radio, small television, or room decoration.
  • Purchase much needed corrective, supportive, or medical equipment.
  • Support a resident on a community outing, such as bowling, movies, or the circus. You may even be able to accompany your resident on some outings.

We are encouraging individuals, groups, churches, and clubs to sponsor one of our residents as a valuable way to make a difference in the life of the neediest children in our community. The level of your sponsorship is flexible. We ask that you commit to celebrating special events and occasions, and that you make the financial commitment to be involved in at least one other way with your resident.

WHAT HORIZONS WILL DO?

  • Provide you with information about the resident you sponsor; where possible, we will include their name and picture.
  • Provide you a list of personal items, such as clothing items and sizes, as well as other items your resident may need or want.
  • Provide you with a list of needed corrective, supportive, or medical equipment and their related cost; this can range from a single, small item, to $5,000 for a fitted wheelchair.
