Each year in Winston-Salem, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, hosts a very impressive festival that celebrates Greek culture with singing, dancing, a market and of course, lots of great food and drink. A few years ago, they decided that they would like to engage with local charities serving the greater Winston-Salem community and have a portion of the money collected as admission be donated to them. This created a bit of competition between local non-profits to apply to be the recipient of the funds. This year, Horizons was selected by their committee to the be local charity that benefits from the proceeds. This privilege comes with the responsibility of helping to man the admission tents all weekend, which is no small feat, but the amount of visibility it afforded us, and of course the funds we received, made it an incredible opportunity for us.
This year’s charity ended up receiving a check for $23,600! We are extremely grateful!

In addition to the wonderful people who helped us from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, especially George Stabolitis, Gus Kroustalis, Penelope Spanos Kontos, Leigh and Dino Cortesis and Athena Karahalios, we would like to thank the following Horizons volunteers for spending time over the weekend to helpi to make this possible:
